Unfortunately, this one will be quite bittersweet as her husband of twenty-eight years lost his battle with cancer early this afternoon in Fayetteville at Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Lee was a veteran registered nurse at Cape Fear Valley Medical Centre’s Emergency Department and in his 53 years, he touched many lives along the way. When we’d go out and about running errands in Fayetteville, it was the very rare exception that we didn’t meet someone he worked with (either as a colleague or a patient!). For years, I wondered if he truly did know about half of Fayetteville’s population.

He was certainly a unique individual…unorthodox and with a wicked sense of humor and if you ever got a chance to watch him working in the ED or talk with him about it afterward, you had no doubts where his heart was.
